> > UPDATES / The Future
In May of 2005 we were able to purchase 3.5 acres of land. We are looking forward to developing it. It is our desire in 2006 to build a boy’s dorm room, a girl’s dorm room, a dining gazebo, a large bathroom and washing facility, and a building with an office, storage room, classroom and kitchen. We are also looking forward to using the property for a variety of farming projects. The children will be growing vegetable gardens, tending fruit trees, keeping fish ponds, raising goats, chickens, German shepherds, and pigs. We have plans for all of the land.
It is an exciting opportunity to be able to use the land as a training ground for the children. We believe that our main calling is to raise them in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Eph. 6:4). Part of that calling, we believe, is teaching them the value of work. Now that we have the land, we will be able to start our work projects that teach them not only how to work, but how to be responsible with the money that they will be making from farming. The work days will be scheduled around the children’s school time and will also include recreation and play time.
We will also use the land as a tool to reach out to the local village. We will conduct children’s meetings on the property inviting the children from neighboring villages to come and take part. We will be building a chapel on the property for our use as well as a community chapel where people can come and worship Jesus at various times during the week.
2006 will be a busy year for us and we look forward to seeing how the Lord will continue to unfold His plan for Lighthouse Ministries. Thank you for being a part of all that God is doing in South East Asia!
