The Thy sisters came to the house from Takeo province. We were contacted by a local pastor in the area who knew of the girls' situation and wanted to get them placed in a good, safe, Christian home.
Their mother had died two years prior to their arrival. She apparently bled to death from unknown causes. Their father had three wives at the time and left the girls with their grandmother while he went to live with his two other families. He never visited the girls or cared for them. The grandmother was elderly and taking care of over 10 other grandchildren while their parents worked in the fields.
Srey Neeung is definitely the older sibling. She has taken on the role of care taker of her younger sisters. She is very responsible and mature beyond her years. She is also very wounded from years of neglect by an adult. She has carried the burden of the family by herself. She enjoys going to school and is doing well. She was placed in first grade again due to not attending school in the province on a regular basis.
Chrup is also very emotionally wounded from years of neglect. She acts out in anger much of the time and has a problem relating to others. She is warming up the longer she lives at the house and is learning to relate better to the dorm mothers. She also enjoys school and seems to be doing well so far.
Srey Night has been raised by her older sister all of her life. She has never had to relate to children her own age until she moved into Heritage House. She is adjusting the best of the three girls and enjoys playing with the other young girls.
Please pray for the emotional adjustment of all three girls. Pray that the Holy Spirit will return their childhood years and that the years of pain will be replaced with future years of love and acceptance. Pray for the girls to become part of the Heritage House family and not be on the outside. Please pray for their schooling and future in the nation of Cambodia .
