Deborah
* 10 June 04

Deborah is a unique case for Heritage House because her mother is living near our home.  Our policy is to not take children if any family member is capable of taking care of them.  However, God always seems to make exceptions to our man made rules.

One Sunday, as Lewis was picking up the children from Church, Pastor San met him at the gate with a young woman.  It was Deborah's mother who had visited the Church and was asking the Church to find someone to take care of her child.  She was a 21 year old prostitute who was unwilling to care for her fifteen month old child.  Although her story was unclear, she claimed to be HIV positive, it was clear that the Holy Spirit was sending us another child to care for.

Deborah was named by a Buddhist nurse when she was born, that is why we have changed her name to Deborah.  While her mother was pregnant, she had visited the Church and asked for money for an abortion.  Deborah has not been wanted her entire life, but God has big plans for this little girl.
When Deborah moved into Heritage House, she had only been given sweetened condensed milk her entire life.  It took us months to get her on a regular feeding schedule and to get her body used to a normal diet.  She took the longest of any of our children to adjust to us, but by the grace of the Lord, she has turned into one of our most gentle and loving children.  She is the baby of the house and gets a lot of love and attention from all of the other children.

Please pray for Deborah to grow into a young woman who knows the Father's love for her.  Join us in prayer for her salvation and for God to reveal His perfect plan for her life.  We are praying that the generational cycle of poverty and prostitution will be broken over this precious young child's life.
